From Adriano Manocchia’s Studio: Two New Angling Scenes

After a dry early Spring, the rain has arrived with a vengeance restoring the much needed water levels. Unfortunately however, all that rain has made fishing a little more challenging. It was only last week that I was actually able to get out for an all-day fishing trip with two of my adventurous buddies, Dick and Mark. We went exploring the Black River in Southern Vermont and I must say that the scenery was absolutely outstanding. I was looking forward to great fishing and even greater picture taking and sketching, when the Heavens opened up again and we found ourselves drenched and disappointed when the crystal clear water turned to a muddy mess in a matter of minutes. We waited out the storm, but both fishing and scenery were done for the day. Oh well, you win some, you loose some… The good thing is that I’m close enough to this river that I’ll be able to get back to it whenever the mood strikes.

So if I can’t fish the streams I might as well paint them…It makes the time until the sun decides to shine again less tedious. The two fishing scenes below were the result of my “rainy” days. “Against The Seam” and “Deep Pool” are 9″x12″ oil on canvas paintings.
